Iurii’s drive for continuous learning combined with encouragement from his mentor motivated him to complete the required certifications for progression to a Level 2 quality inspector. In his current role, Iurii meticulously checks each turbine part to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality before being shipped to the customer. According to Iurii, the best part of the job is that it’s never boring.
“Quality entails so many different things that I’m always learning something new. In this role, I’m able to see what other departments do and how the work in one area impacts another. That makes it easier to understand how we can help each other in achieving customer satisfaction,” he explains.
With the service center working at full load right now, Iurii has a proven method for handling the demands of a busy day with ease. “I’ve learned to split the job – or decision – into little steps and take one small step at a time. I focus on managing the tasks within my control.”
Iurii – who speaks English, Ukraine, and Russian, and understands Polish – enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, and basketball and hockey. He especially likes spending time with his family and is looking forward to introducing his sister, whom he’s sponsoring to come to the U.S. from Ukraine, to the warm and friendly community of Winston-Salem.
He recalls his first few weeks in his new town. “When I first moved to this neighborhood, people would wave as they drove by. Everyone was very welcoming, and I felt the true spirit of Southern hospitality.”
Iurii's journey showcases resilience, adaptability, and a true commitment to growth. It serves as a reminder that with a positive mindset, success can be achieved one step at a time.
